But most of the times the roma person being discussed IS romanian.
If this was about another country, especially not one in the balkans, it would sound really stupid. Imagine if you were talking about canadian citizens doing something stupid abroad and someone felt the need to say “oh no, well actually that guy isn’t canadian, his great-grandparents immigrated to Canada from Singapore”.
Does confusion between ethnicities occur sometimes? Probably yes, but are idiots trying to push the idea that an entire group within romanian society isn’t allowed to call themselves that? Also yes.
I’ll let you come up with the reason why they do it on your own.
Good luck with your learning
on reddit you’re not romanian if you don’t insult the roma people.
Actually, 1-2 million Romani people are Romanians, because they are citizens of Romania.
Romania used to be ethnically diverse, but almost five decades of national communism changed it to a one nation = one people country. Now people don’t understand the difference between RO nationality and RO citizenship.
We should try becoming more tolerant and accept minorities as being Romanians. Even try to convince them to also be Romanians.
You can’t compare a city with a country /s
At least they’re somewhat in the same ballpark. The amount of times I’ve been confused as a Russian is enough to make anyone’s blood boil and then when I correct them they’re like what’s the difference?smh:/
daca nu l-ai vazut cumva, vezi ca este un film de vreo 5 ore cu neagu djuvara, foarte fain
We should change the name of the country to stop this confusion once and for all. anything would be better
Yeah I mean they just happened to speak the same language live in the same area and act the same way aside from that they are 120% different
