The response from the influencer that (completely understandably) didn’t see Molly’s messages made me consider that that situation probably occurs with any person of significant notoriety – people reaching out for help and you never knowing or knowing too late. Obviously it’s small fry compared to what she went through, or what her family went through but I’m not sure I could deal with that side of fame.
I haven’t got any word for it other than heartbreaking.
There’s just something more visceral and tragic about it seeing it play out over a series of tweets than if it was diary entries. I think because so much of the internet is in real time, or close to it, it makes it worse to know a retweet or a like, any kind of acknowledgement, could have changed the outcome, no matter who it came from.
Poor young girl. May she rest in peace. This has been a problem since I was a kid.
Remember those videos girls used to do with cards telling their stories?
I have two girls, similar ages to Molly, and it’s terrifying to think what rabbit holes they might get pulled into
Didn’t Archie Battersbee have a social media account where he was doing something similar?
That’ll make for an interesting coroner’s inquest and one very unhappy rabble-rouser.

Heartbreaking to read, that poor girl.
