Don’t be surprised Kwasi Kwarteng smiled and giggled through the Queen’s funeral (including the two minute silence). He also cheered and laughed when he was informed about energy bills plunging millions into poverty.
How dare he laugh during a funeral. More importantly, why was he there? Surely he has his hands full with more urgent tasks like sacking civil servants who have a different view of economics to him and abolishing bankers bonus caps?
Odd behaviour, for a normal person, but for a government minister, par for the course.
Does he perhaps have mild ADHD? This is exactly how my ADHD brother acts when he is required to stand still.
I laugh at funerals. It’s a nervous response. I don’t care for Kwarteng but this isn’t really that unusual.
It was quite strange behaviour, I was thinking some sort of social anxiety, or maybe drugs, prescription or otherwise. We should probably drug test our MPs.
Over the past two weeks, his Government was happy to have people arrested for not being pro-Queen enough, for saying that it’s not all right to rape children even if you’re the Queen’s son or for pointing out that Charles III is unelected.
It would be a bit of a /r/LeopardsAteMyFace moment if he got in trouble for not being sufficiently sad during the period of enforced sadness…
This must be a tricky one for this sub. On the one hand, any excuse to slag off a Tory. On the other hand, any excuse to slag off the Queen. You’ll have to get creative here.
I’m not going to lay in to someone for something as inconsequential as a *facial expression*. For all we know he was mid sneeze, or someone waved at him, or he thought of a stupid joke and forgot for a moment.
Especially since there is so much he has actually said done and supported that you can lay in to him for.
Maybe he just let rip a massive silent but deadly fart?
How dare he laugh in queens funeral! Let’s lock him up in tower of London for high treason.
Can we stop it?
Don’t fall for this faux outrage. Whether you like the guy or not (I don’t), this royal madness is getting out of hand.
Imagine if Starker had done this.
Daily Mail would have ran 20 pages on it.
Can we be mad at him for the ghoulish things he does at work instead?
Him literally talking to himself was definitely strange. I mean a lot of people talk to ’emselves, but in public and during a silence…?
Was it a sign of disrespect? Idk, maybe. Whatever, better things to think about.
I mean I remember while watching the funeral thinking how difficult it must have been for the Queen’s family to have cameras on them all the time while marking her death. Any little odd gesture or odd facial expression being viewed by millions who then could jump to the wrong conclusion. And the cameras on them for hours and hours. I’m glad they did get the chance for a private memorial later that day.
