‘Huge turnouts’ reported at UK cost of living protests

  1. Too much power has been ceded to the state over the years. Leaving aside that they’ll crush this protest at will thanks to the laws passed restricting our right to protest, you have no ability to opt out of this. You’re along for the ride, whether you like it or not.

This is my gripe with the left in a nutshell. The problems they identify are often legitimate, serious issues. But their solution is invariably the same: More power for the government. The government causes a problem, and the left lobby to give them more power to fix the problem. Try proposing a solution that doesn’t involve that. Try suggesting placing a limit on government power. You’ll be treated like a monster. It’s a hard lesson that needs to be learned: The more centralised power is, the more abuse there will be. The people running this shitshow couldn’t give two shiny shites about the cost of living because it doesn’t affect them. If governance were more localised and accountable, this stuff wouldn’t happen because it wouldn’t be a bunch of Toffs who hate us passing laws based on a population they only think of in disdainful, abstract terms.

I’m sure this’ll fall on deaf ears but there you go. Maybe it’ll get through to someone.

Edit: They’ve arrived. This comment is about to be buried.

Edit 2: Thread is being brigaded

  2. It’s too late the UK will soon be the DK….. the Divided Kingdom, too many hearts and soul are going to get destroyed, I hope the filthy rich understand the repercussions that are coming, 2020-2025 are marked for turbulence, there’s no turning back.

  3. Some of the comments from the speakers at the march in Nottingham.

Hearing from speaker how posties are being moved to unstable zero-hours-esque contracts, and having a below inflation pay adjustment (i.e. a pay cut)

    Damn right they should strike.

Teaching Union speaker commenting on huge turnout in their strike ballots, how they worked,in schools, all through Covid – and how they are being given below inflation pay adjustments (i.e. pay cuts)

NUJ speaker saying how the threat of industrial action was key to their achieving 14 to 44% pay rises for their members

Civil Service Union speaker saying how members have seen their pay fall by 20-25% in real terms over recent years.

Acorn (community and tenants union) member talking about how they have taken direct action to fight for tenants rights and dignity. Anyone can join Acorn

Firefighters union member speaking on how their members were given a 2% pay adjustment- ie a pay cut.

  4. People need to forget about the divisions of left or right, black or white or religion or whatever and just unite together!
They want us divided to fight each other!
Together we can stand up to these crazy greedy criminals at the top!
I hope this makes a difference and gains some traction.

  5. This has been said many times, but the people you are paying your energy bills too are, by and large, not the people who produce the energy, or who set the prices, or who are making the vast profits.

Mass non-payment is just going to cause energy retailers to go bust, which won’t necessarily help ordinary people at all.

  6. Blaming the rich all the time. Not going to get us anywhere. They will just pack there bags and move to another country (to 1 of there many homes). They dont give a shit as long as there bank balances are intact.

  7. Truss: Turns up heating and snorts.

“Peasants, what are you going to do, do I look worried, bunch of cunts…”

  8. There’s also been large turnouts at anti immigration protests in recent weeks but you won’t hear a thing of it in the media.

It really is propaganda at this point, what they want us to know about and want they pretend isn’t happening.
