  1. >_These mug shots comes from a police identification book believed to be from the 1930s. It was originally found in a junk shop by a member of the public and subsequently donated to Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums. No information is available to confirm which police force compiled it but evidence suggests it’s from the Newcastle upon Tyne area._

  2. That one-eyed fella had over 30 million associates?

Iโ€™m not sure that there were even that many people in the population at that time.

  3. The hairstyles wouldn’t be out of place now.

It is interesting to see how subjective and almost chatty the bios are from that era “a general thief and bad character” – lovely.

  4. How did the height of men increase so much over 100 years? Also if this was a manโ€™s height Iโ€™m 1920/30 how tall were they in 17th century during civil war ?

  5. The cop who took both a front shot and a profile shot in the same picture using a mirror must have earned a promotion for that.

  6. These are so fascinating, so many little details! With the haircuts being what they are, I might know or have passed one of these guys in the street today.

    Theyโ€™re so shortโ€ฆ

And they crossed the S off โ€˜eyesโ€™.

Ugh, love all these little details!!

  7. Fatty Potter lmao !

On a serious note though , these scars and injuries are most likely from WW1 , the horrors these guys must have witnessed, itโ€™s not surprising they turned out to be crims

  8. I can just imagine the officer filling the form in for the first prisoner:

    _colour of eyes_

    **looks at prisoner** …

    **crosses out โ€œsโ€**

    _eye_

  9. “I remember a time when you could leave your front door unlocked, and nothing would be stolen”

Domestic theft and crime where at an all time high during ww1 and ww2

  10. What does “build: prop” mean? My first guess was that it means stocky, like a rugby prop, but all of these guys are quite differently sized and are all the same “build”
