The country is well and truly fucked with this government
A well educated workforce is key to a country’s success.
Cutting the budgets for education just highlights that these cunts aren’t interested in our future success.
How the meeting went
“So you know how schools are already underfunded does anyone have a suggestion”
“We could cut the budgets further so the wealth can trickle down from wealthy parents into schools via donations and personal grants; why I remember Lord Jimmy John donating an entirely new building once”
“Absolute genius give this person a raise”
So the ten years of budgets cuts and wage freezes commonly called austerity is continuing in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest. Do these people think we live in a Republican state in the US or something?
So at a time where schools can’t afford to pay the heating bills, the government thinks cutting the schools budget is a good idea? Where the hell do they think the savings are going to come from?
My school is currently filling absolutely ever year group to total capacity with late in-year admissions, pushing our class sizes to the limit of as much as they can physically hold. The reason being that they are so desperate for the few thousand quid they get per kid.
I work in quite a well run school which I don’t doubt will find a way to get through this, but I can foresee some real crises unfolding over the next few months. It will be interesting when schools/whole Local Authorities can’t afford to open the gates.
Who needs state education, these guys only give a fuck if you went to Eton and spend your day calling for less tax
Important to remember this is all to allow the top 0.6% richest to keep their tax reduction.
This is unconscionable. It is immoral, cruel, and to be frank brainless.
Schools and teachers are vital and not just for education but for safeguarding child welfare, providing community hubs, and improving cultural capital.
This is going to push more teachers to vote to strike, something that should of happened years ago.
Someone remove these people from government, they literally have no fucking clue what they’re doing. Teachers about to strike, schools getting no added budget to cover heating bills, and they’re cutting budgets to give more money to the rich? Completely immoral
Why do they want civil unrest? When they end up getting civil unrest, what will we get in return?
“The highest level of education someone has achieved remains an important dividing line in how people vote. Labour did much better than the Conservatives amongst those who have a degree or higher, by 43% to 29%.” – YouGov statistics from 2019 GE.
This will be popular with Tory party donors who have no use for state schools and see the people attending them as future wage slaves.
Conservatives Undermining National Teaching Standards.
Who would have thought it.
Don’t need a high level of education when we will all be working in an Amazon Warehouse.
“There’s a reason education sucks, and it’s the same reason that it will never, ever, ever be fixed. It’s never gonna get any better….. Because the owners of this country don’t want that……… I’ll tell you what they don’t want:
They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. Thats against their interests. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table to figure out how badly they’re getting f’ed by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago.
You know what they want? They want obedient workers. People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork, and just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it.”
George Carlin
They have also offered teachers a pay rise but have refused to fund it so that money will come from school budgets.
Genius move as unions are balloting their members on strike action.
As if schools can afford more cuts. At my wife’s school, the department photocopy budget for the YEAR is £40. They have no interpreters for the Ukrainian kids. The end-of-year art project is a pen pot made of paper and tape. The school is freezing cold and shabby.
Don’t fuck our futures, you fucking fuckheads. Is bad enough already.
Oh ffs… we’re already having to subsidise the school out of our own pockets, plus the fundraising they do. I fucking despise the tories. As a floating voter, I can categorically say I’ll never vote for them.
We already had our newsletter from our son’s primary school announcing limited use of heating during the school day.
The advice given to parents: “make sure your child wears an official school jumper”.
And the Tories smile on.
These people hate you, your family and your kids. The more impoverished you get, the happier they are. They want to take us back to feudalism.
What the actual fuck truss. It is socially, economically and politically more expedient if you just walk back some of these barbaric tax cuts.
This is government cruelty and political evil for the lower earners.
I call for a general election
lol we already have nothing.
My school’s utility bill has gone from £100,000 per year to £400,000 per year according to our assistant headteacher.
We have 4 teaching assistant in a 700 child school with 26 EHCPs that require 1:1 TAs whilst TAs are being offered LESS than £10,000 per year wage.
I’m currently head of 2 year groups, working 7:30-5:30 every day to support kids who often can’t afford to eat at school because leadership don’t want to hire another body. I’m burning myself out and I can’t even afford to rent a house. 30 years old and living with my parents.
This country is fucked.
The Tories belong in a fucking prison.
How long before the British people finally take to the streets and demand a change in government?
How long until even Tory backbenchers want change and write to the 1922 Committee in droves to demand a vote of no confidence in Truss, realising that if their party doesn’t change course, they will unanimously lose their jobs come the next General Election.
We’re at the point where Starmer is **30 POINTS AHEAD** of Truss. That gap is only going to widen as more budget cuts are announced to balance the books. This could be by far the party’s worst defeat since 1997 when Blair took charge with a 179 seat majority. Given projections from pollsters, Starmer could win more and command a supermajority that brings the Conservatives to extinction.
Truss is a wrongly applied medical truss wrapped around the economy and squeezing the life out of it.
Wake up Liz it’s time to go!!
So they’re cutting our budgets further and also refusing to fund the latest, “pay rise,” which will now how to come out of even tighter budgets?
Expect to see even more support staff being let go, even fewer resources to provide engaging learning, an increased reliance on cheaper, inexperienced ECTs as more experienced staff are forced out, and a further deterioration in facilities.
All that will result in a massive decrease in the standard of education that we can provide, which the government will no doubt use as a hammer to beat us with when results season rolls around. And the public will eat it up.
I don’t think people understand just how close a lot of schools are to being completely at their breaking point. Something is going to have to give eventually and the people that will suffer most are our most vulnerable and desperate children.
How can anyone want these people in power?
The older I get, the less I understand who the people around me are…
The real money grubbers are in town now,we are so fucked
They need to keep the future voting public stupid so they can have the media feed them their lies so swat away any decent opposition.
What a fantastic way to make sure teachers also strike this year. I mean, they were going to anyway… But this gives us more fuel.
ATAB
We will be cutting and sharing rulers at this rate
So the wealthy will have more money to pay for their kids’ private education and ours will see their schools get even poorer?
I predict a very significant amount of strike action coming from teachers this year.
Is there any way we can get rid of them before 2024?
Never vote Tory.
They only give a shit about kids going to Eton.
There’s going to be no net change to the budget is there? Schools were given 300m to cover the increase in employer side share of NI, now the NI is lower this cost to schools isn’t there. Any sensible person would have left the 300m in the school’s budget and tories are going to tory, but it’s not like schools had 300m to spend and they now need to make cuts.
These bastards are trying to Americanise the UK. Pay for everything at the point of use, no services. Health and education are under attack. We’ll rue the day they ever won an election.
Let’s improve the countries productivity by not educating or feeding the kids properly, that always works
So are we rioting *now?* When are we rioting, once our kids are too stupid to protest?
What’s it got to do with NI? That NI increase was ringfenced in law for the NHS and social care.
literally stealing from kids to give to the rich.

My mother is a teacher and things are already unacceptably dire.
The primary school she teaches in can’t afford to put the heating on anymore, and in her reception class she has five low-verbal or non-verbal special needs children with one part time paraprofessional between them; when the paraprofessional isn’t in their care falls entirely on my mother and a single teaching assistant who are also responsible for 20 other children. These kids **need** one to one support, for the sake of their learning and safety as much as the other children, but the mood at the moment is that no help is coming.
The only alternative care option involves one person walking five (by this point usually very distressed and overwhelmed) non-communicative children across the entire school by themselves to a sensory room that may or may not already be in use. It is unsafe, and unacceptable, and nobody at the school can do a thing to improve it. It’s a crisis every day and it is unending.
We don’t say “how much worse can it get?” in my house anymore because that’s just an invitation for the tory bastards to crank it up a notch. These kids can’t wait years for an election that may or may not change things, they’re losing their most crucial developmental years to sadistic capitalists and abject apathetic cruelty.
Everyone who votes Conservative should feel ashamed of themselves, but honestly I don’t think they have the capability.
Get this fucking shitshow of a government out. How can they even consider cutting school budgets even further, they’re barely holding on as it is. All to fund some fucking tax cuts for the wealthy – they are completely and totally morally fucking bankrupt
I work in a school. Heating is now rationed to a couple of hours in the morning and afternoon. The Issue is, because we have co2 monitoring for Covid airflow, the windows have to stay open and therefore the building is constantly freezing
Education is in the gutter. My younger sibling is trapped in the same hellhole I went to, rife with authoritarian teachers, an absolute fucking plank for a headmaster, inadequate teachers and teaching resources, meaningless, enforced extracurricular activities that don’t go towards progress.
They are not shown how to work out methodology within their classwork. They are not shown how to think critically. The teachers do not care about the kids. My old teacher, my absolute favourite angel of a teacher dipped into her own maternity funds to give us all pens for the term because the school wouldn’t supply us. We need education infrastructure, we need support for teachers, we need technological support for the IT sectors, we need better and more accessible software for the students instead of several different applications with so many different log-ins the kids forget them.
We need public education. We need our kids to be taught better than we were goddammit, who the fuck is in charge of this industry?
If they’re going to do this they should also impose restrictions on private schools.
It’s not just that better educated people tend not to vote tory – it’s that they’re basically restricting the opportunities of people from working class backgrounds, while making sure there’s even less competition for the kids of tory families.

£120 million of taxpayer money was spent on this decomissioned oil rig to turn it into “artwork”. https://www.google.com/amp/s/news.sky.com/story/amp/old-oil-rig-to-be-transformed-into-see-monster-art-installation-12651433
Yet schools will stuggle to pay their staff who are absolute unsung heroes. Whoever makes these decision is deluded.
