Yet the met police stand by and allow the disorder from the majority of Parliament.
I don’t think the people really give a fuck at this point, and nor should they.
I think the Met Police are like the Pretorian Guard.
What they mean: we will protect the government even though we are suffering as you are.
And that stance worked so well for them during the poll tax protests that they ended up having to lock themselves in the police stations for four days and nights where I lived then.
“Sorry we only allow protests which have no effect whatsoever, thank you very much.”
From Cable Street to the Miners Strike to Poll Tax to everything inbetween you can usually rely on the UK’s police to be on the wrong side of history.
The met haven proven they are on the side of the rich, not the people. Fuck them.
When Boris was throwing a party in the middle of the pandemic, they didn’t seem to care. It seems only fair they do the same now.
But deliberately destroying the country they will allow.
Disrupting all our lives they will allow
Stealing our money and futures to further enrich the tories and their cronies they will allow
Interference in our elections and bribery of political parties they will allow
Sending vulnerable people ot be tortured in Rwanda they will allow
But God forbid you want to hold a sign up against it. They will not allow that. You think this is a democracy?

the end is high! especially since the uk’s pension funds nearly went tits up
I idea that the Met police feel they are the arbiter of what is right and wrong is a bloody joke.
You’re going to be in for a fucking shock then Met.
“It is the policy of the MPS to police demonstrations without fear or favour and to remain impartial at all times.”
Good luck stopping protests if a tonne of people all decide to protest at once
Hahaha what?!
That the point of a protest surely haha.
Met police have mortgages too. The line will not hold this time.
The article seems to say that the Police are concerned with one group (out of a number who are planning protests thuscweekend) who have not engaged to develop a policing plan
Hmm, they arrest people for carrying a bit of paper around.
>The world was spinning. Where was the law? There was the barricade. Who was it protecting from what? The city was run by a madman and his shadowy chums so where was the law? Coppers liked to say that people shouldn’t take the law into their own hands, and they thought they knew what they meant. They were thinking about the normal times, and men who went round to sort out a neighbour with a club because his dog had crapped once too often on their doorstep. But at times like this, who did the law belong to? If it shouldn’t be in the hands of people, where the hell should it be? People who knew better? Then you got Winder and his pals, and how good was that?

Is it warm in jail?
I guess it’s cheaper than heating your own home.
Isn’t the point of protesting to cause disorder? So they aren’t going to allow protests at all? I thought that was illegal?
“but disorderly parties in government offices when the law of the country is that nobody can meet in person even to attend a funeral are totally fine!”
They’ve lost their claim to be an authority. They can say what they like.
Well you better start tolerating it ‘cos it’s not going away till the Cons have gone.
We no longer have freedom of speech as the police can decide what is lawful and unlawful speech. So should be interesting.
It’s as this point that you’ll work out whether or not the police are serving the people or the establishment.
Spoiler: it’s not the people.
If you know anyone, friends or family, looking to join the police, please try your best to discourage them, they could do something better and more useful to society like going into nursing, training to be a firefighter, becoming a refuse workers, driving a bus or working in traffic management, to name a few.
All protests cause some sort of distort… no?
I guess that is the point?
The Met failing to understand the fundamental nature of protests.
The Met can go fuck themselves, people should be in the streets causing disorder over this current government
This is called a dictatorship. An uprising and revolution is now the only way forward. Millions of us should be doing it, they can’t lock up that many people!!
“We will not tolerate protests that cause disorder” is what the headline should read.
To say “We will not tolerate protests which cause disorder” implies that protests in general cause disorder.
They were literally detaining people for protesting the monarchy. It’s become fairly transparent that the police in this country, are allowed to silence you if they don’t like what you have to say
Disorder like pulling resources from other part of the country. Or resources like ambulances to certain areas to deal with people standing for over 24 hours … Nah wouldn’t want that would we….
Is it not true that most police forces will go under cover in protests with the intention of causing disorder so they can be dispersed??
Police should not fan the flames because if people get hurt bad, the next one will be far more violent.
