It is not Estonian.
Ugh, it’s hard to understand, but I think she says
“Äkki ma lõikan su munad maha ja söödan need sulle, kuradi sitapea” which means “Maybe i’ll cut off your balls and feed them to you, fucking asshole”
What movie is it?
Fucking hell I even watched the movie and as an estonian, had no idea they were (or attempting to) speaking estonian.
Yep, seen it already. Orphan 2.
Earlier in the movie the guard says “pane pliiats maha või muidu saad peksa” and as already said, the second one is where a group of friends make fun of Esther, to which she replies “äkki ma lõikan su munad maha ja söödan sulle, sa kuradi sitapea”.
I mean i’m happy they actually bothered with our language and didnt assume we spoke russian. The accent is horrible, but grammatically correct. It is said she escaped from Saarne Instituute, so they already got “instituut” wrong 😀
They have few estonian lines in the orphan movies, that are spoken so badly that even native speakers cant understand them, wild honestly
Such ragebait, I hate hollywood so much right now
It should really be in Estonian, but the pronunciation is so-so bad that even Estonian speakers can’t understand it.
If the film has some lines in Estonian, someone could train them. It doesn’t take much money from the film’s budget.
As a Finn, this sounds more like German to me.
Lulz, I think this is one of those cases of “learned language x from writing without ever hearing a word of it spoken”.
I understand from other comments that it’s supposed to be Estonian, but it doesn’t sound like it at all, never mind being understandable. Even with the script “Äkki ma lõikan su munad maha ja söödan need sulle, kuradi sitapea” to read off, it’s a decryption exercise to match words to text.
the ‘almost’ ok pronounciation would be as you can hear from here: [https://www.upload.ee/files/14545972/estonian_synth.mp3.html](https://www.upload.ee/files/14545972/estonian_synth.mp3.html)
nice phrase to learn for future.
As an Estonian, I have no clue
This sounds like a German trying to read a book written in Estonian having no knowledge of the language but extreme confidence.
/u/QuiksLE was correct but one word missing “Äkki ma lõikan su munad maha ja söödan need sulle, **sa** kuradi sitapea” , can put that word in the english, too – “Maybe I’ll cut off your balls and feed them to you, **you** fucking asshole”
sounds like google translate lmao
Mida rohkem kuulan, seda halvemaks muutub. Reaalselt tundus, nagu oleks mingi saksa keel
Sheesh… I only underatood what she was saying after I read the comments… I tought she was talking gibberish that just sounded Estonian… but shes actually trying to say something in Estonian lmao… from whatever its from still props even though its absolute ass.
aki ma loikan sumund mahai in isurnt aikritisi pepe – midagi taolist
Is she speaking Estonian in tongues?
lmao text to speech has better accent
Sounds like the sim language lmao. Not even my mom could make out what she said
Äkki ma lõikan su munad maha ja söödan sulle sa kuradi sitapakk
Maybe I’ll cut off your balls and feed them to you you damn sack of shit
The translation is not 100% accurate and I have never heard anyone use “sitapakk” as an insult, “sitapea” or shithead would be more in line with actual estonian. “Sitapakk” directly transates to parcel of shit.
Her accent is pretty attrocious so it is difficult to understand, but the language does appear to be Estonian.
Ok, so. Even if the words she is trying to say are written in Estonian, this is not Estonian.
Native speaker here, and as the others said, I would have no clue that she is even attempting to speak Estonian.
It is more similar to “once you hear it, you can never unhear” kinda videos with song lyrics. Reading what she is trying to say, perhaps I can transpose it to the sound. But without knowing what she is trying to say, never in a million years would I have guessed it or recognisd it.
Why the fuck does Hollywood do this?
The one thing that got me was at the very beginning, there was a pan scene over a mountainous area labelled “Estonia”. I instantly turned to my Estonian partner and said “my immersion has been ruined”.
I was really excited to hear some Estonian language. I live in New York but I’m a Native Estonian. Watched it with my girlfriend and she saw I was pissed that nothing sounded like Estonian
It really really bothered me when they showed the mountains in the movie. Estonia has 0 mountains. It’s all flat. The highest point is like 300 meters
Omg the accent is so bad 😭😭 but its definetly something very insulting and stuff
The way Estonia is mentioned in this movie comes off rather disrespectful. They probably went for a small lesser known county simply quz the average American viewer wouldn’t know the difference anyway and nobody would care if we complained.
“Äkki ma lõikan su munad maha ja söödan nad sulle, sa kuradi sitaplekk”
Maybe I’ll cut off your balls and feed them to you, you shitstain.
I had to listen to it a few times to realize that it sounds like Estonian words
