Train services crippled by fresh strike, as Royal Mail staff walk out for second day

  1. Rail bosses using the cliche “look how these selfish workers are disrupting everyone’s plans”

**Sacrifice your 6 figure bonuses if you’re that concerned**

  2. At network rail we’ve received no improved offer with very little movement on the more daft shift they are wanting. Some of it is acceptable and by and large already happens.
Some of it is daft. I work with signals and shit but they are wanting me to go stick earth’s on the overheads if they are short staffed. The fuck do I know about sticking an earth on a 25kv line ? How am I supposed to know if something doesn’t look right or safe ?

They are looking at opening a redundancy scheme for folk who want to leave which a lot of the older guys will be jumping at if they get the chance. Again though it’s not as attractive as it could be nor is it guaranteed. If you have “skills required by the buisness” you can be refused and kept on despite wanting to leave.

All people starting after 2014 will be on significantly worse contracts with vastly reduced enhancements for unsociable hours and overtime. Also if you take a promotion you will also be on significantly worse terms and conditions.

Loads more industry specific shit that most here won’t understand as they aren’t in the industry. All this for 4% aye fling it right up your hoop.
Especially when the top brass have been handed 10s of thousands in payrises when you look at the take home after the tax cuts.
They want to make us poorer while they cream even more in. They need to realise without us there is no need for them yet if they fucked off nothing materially would change day to day.

  3. Good for them,I ssuport what they are donig and am hoping we’ll have a general strike across the country. It is one of the few things left to people to make themselves heard that will have a real effect on even the rich.

    edit: a word

  4. Dam the 8th sucks for me, have to support them though, I wonder what they eventual pay outcome will be
