Transatlantic Trends 2022: Sentiment about US Influence in Global Affairs

  1. You want to tell me that there are people in Europe who actually like that usa has a global hegemony and having constantly wars all over the world? I do not know a single one of those people. I think this is a horrible lie.

  2. Poland is such a simp for the U.S.

Surprised at the UK being so on par with Germany and France though

  3. To be fair, you wouldn’t be considered sensible here if you’re not agreeing with majority of US policies.

The alternative is our (khem) totally non-imperialistic neighbours (khem) in the east, which isn’t the best option keeping in mind our history and what’s happening in Ukraine…

  4. Why does Spain show up as “Spain” in this but turkey shows up as Tourkeyjjiye or whatever. Why not just write the English name, Turkey.

  5. I’m personally really divided over this one.

The US can be a great ally when it comes to the security of Europe and large parts of Asia, but depending on the administration currently in charge, they can also be highly unreliable and pursuant of their own interests.

Also, their goals and methods can sometimes be more than questionable, such as in South America for basically the entire second half of the 20th century or in Iraq.

But then again, their support of Ukraine is great.

  6. People think that the UK is really pro-US but I’d say the country at large is a deffo on the more skeptical end. This graph sort of proves it.

That’s not to say there is hate, but people don’t want to be tethered completely to US foreign policy

  7. I’m not saying the US is a saint, overthrowing a democratic government to install a dictator is not so nice. Starting an aggression war with made up scud rockets and later telling people “well there were no rockets but God told me to do so” isn’t either. And tapping your friends phone is also not so nice.

But if I had to choose between the US and China/ Russia as the world’s leading nation, I would totally choose the US.

  8. Maybe they should have asked Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria? What about Iran? Vietnam? Cambodia? Wait: Cuba? Guatemala? Venezuela? Argentine? Or any of the other 50 countries where the US attempted “regime change” in the last 100 years? (In some countries more than once…).

Edit: how many of the countries on the list got bombed by the US? – Ok: Germany. But we actually deserved it^^ (- guess it depends on which generation you ask).

  9. Why does Portugal rank so high? I just sort of assumed most western European countries would be less supportive of the US in general.
