Why? Unless you’re operating heavy machinery or a vehicle then why does it matter if someone is over the limit?

We are at a stage where the “cost of living crisis” is so bad, students are having to think twice about going out getting shit faced on a Tuesday. It’s a disgrace! Damn tories!!
Also, “paying £9k in student loans” is absolutely irrelevant. To suggest a student loan is burdening freshers in disingenuous and an outright lie
Time for some good old fashioned militant action. Boycott bars and clubs with this policy.
Why is this a police matter? Having a drink at home or in the pub before going to a club is … normal. This surely just benefits greedy club owners.
Lol….
We predrink because of the ridiculous prices of drinks in pubs and clubs.
Greedy bar owners who constantly complain how tough it is on the high street will end up pushing more people to just stay at home and drink with mates.
The locals and students will just go and sit in Wharton Park or along the riverside with a slab of cans and a bluetooth speaker instead.
This country is an open-air prison lmao imagine tolerating this
Great news for drug dealers and those looking to buy ex-nightclubs with the intention of turning them into accommodation I suspect.
But what happens when you already been at one bar drinking and go to another? They won’t let you in because they think you have been pre drinking? Seems stupid.
Fuck off. Its to make sure they drink there and not elsewhere. Will they fuck use it on people once they’ve gotten inside.
I hope the places go into bankruptcy.
If it’s as they described in the article I support it. They say they’re not planning to stop everyone with alcohol in their body, just those heavily intoxicated.
I was at Durham university from 2014-2018 and multiple students drowned in the river while pissed, so many that they started suspecting someone was pushing them in.
Anything to discourage dangerous drinking is a good idea in my opinion.
ITT: people thinking that clubs will be turning anyone that has had a pint before getting there away to ‘make more money’ that makes no sense. Turning anyone away from a club will probably lose them some money.
It’s there to stop people getting hammered then trying to go into a club.
For me having less people completely smashed causing fights or sexually assaulting people is probably good thing.
