Take it pensions won’t be rising in line with inflation then ? Seen as they are the largest proportion of the welfare spending ?
I am truly worried. I’ve already had an email from my energy suppliera few days ago saying my direct debit is going up to £110 from £80 and i’m one person living in one room and now they want to cut my benefits? My bills compared to this time last year have gone up by over £100 a month.

This women frightens me.I am one of those benefit scroungers in her eyes.Disabled and housebound for years now.People like her and those that listen to her think we have it to good.
They have no idea what our lives are really like.I didn’t just suddenly decide fuck working I think I’ll just scrounge of the state.I worked for decades,paid my taxes.raised a family,helped start a buisness that is still doing well.I have been a dinner lady,worked in retail,fixed computers minded my friends children so they could work,even cleaned toilets for the council.
Anything that fitted around school hours.Some of those jobs were unpaid but all of them were necessary and useful. Without us little people who clean rich peoples houses,provide free childcare to friends,clean public toilets are on hand to provide free IT support and work shitty jobs at minimum wages our society wouldn’t work.
Now I am disabled and on disability,I feel so ashamed.Still we manage,my daughter claims nothing,not unemployment .not carers allowance,we just manage on my disability and DLA.
We don’t live in luxury,no subsribtions to Netlix/Prime or whatever,no car,no holidays,no 50inch tv or whatever the tories imagine we have.
We manage.The heating is on in one room,set at 15C but only put on at night.We use blankets,layer up,batch cook,budget and stretch every penny.My daughter gets food from the local food bank,though it’s not called that here,no referal is needed.Its just a local community shop where three times a week they get what the local supermarkets couldn’t sell even at reduced prices.
There is a polite quee every morning till its open.Nobody takes too much,aware of the people behind them,making sure everyone gets something.It is all very civilised,very stiff upper lip.But you can see the quiet resignation in peoples eyes,the shame of being in this position.
My daughter always buys something small,today it was carrots,as that money keeps the place open.
Everone makes do,everyone has a story.Many are in work not earning enough despite working hard.
Food has been going up almost week by week,fuel and bills are ever rising.Winter is coming.Here in the highlands we often see below zero temperatures. Some of us,especially the old will gets sick and die while sitting in their cold homes.
While Liz Truss and her kind give tax cuts to their friends.People will die but its a risk they are happy to take.After all we are just scroungers,the very very bottom of the pile.
We have no voice,nobody who advocates for us among the government.
Now she wants to cut the welfare system again,and everything else that makes society work.Education,libraries,social care……and many more things that are important for a well working country.
I keep thinking it can’t get any worse,I have been thinking this since 2016 and yet somehow the tories manage to lower the bar time after time.
I love this country,Scotland is my home and they are destroying it.It feels like a fire sale and the tories are like bandits in a bananna country.
Even if they get voted out eventually,the damage they have done will affect our children and grand children,while they get of scot free.
Why are there no repercussions for them?
Thats what isn’t fair Liz Truss……while you are “enjoying” your new policy direction.
Of course she is, she gets to lounge on fat stacks of cash like she’s Piers Morgan’s latest shag and the 1% get even richer! These policies aren’t for us, the common people! They’re for the likes of them, who will happily short our economy, who will ruin our currency for the sake of a stupid little number in their investment accounts going up. We are not people to the 1%, we are modern day servants.
How about we make large corporations pay their tax on money that they generate here? We restrict the minister’s benefits claim abilities? We stop subsidising minister’s alcoholism and social lives? We stop giving them pissing wage increases? How about we stop pissing away billions of pounds in corruption via immoral contracts given through old boy networks? Stop pissing away millions on stupid stuff like the millennium mound?
Nahh we need to stop helping people who need assistance. That’s the answer. Genuinely I hate this country.
Welfare cuts are needed during a cost of living crisis. Rent is on the rise, food is on the rise, energy has risen. Yet in her head it’s logical to give less money to people who are already struggling.
