  1. Landzeitokban szokták ezeket a cringe sváb ruhákat ráerőszakolni a felszolgálókta, ez jutott eszembe a képről

  2. Your dress is cool and seems accurate. But your hat looks odd, I have never seen any like this in Hungary.

  3. americans who think they are irish, italian, greek, german, polish, hungarian…etc just because their great-great grandma read about europe a 100 years ago…

you are american girl. your costume has little to do with hungary. if you want to a appreciate the culture of your ancestors, learn the language, read the literature, research the history, instead of playing dress-up.

    anyways have fun!

  4. As others noted, the cap looks off.
Additionally, you would not see the Hungarian tri-color in traditional clothing (the clothing was a regional, not a national thing). The skirts probably had several underskirts (I mean in today’s folk dance you would use 3, and you can “cheat” with stiffening them) and they were much more decorated.

You can check the wiki (sadly it’s not available in english)

  5. Well, you put hungarian flag colors on your costume, it doesn’t make it look like traditional hungarian costume

  6. No hard feelings but when I saw this at first I wouldn’t have said it’s Hungarian traditional wear only the flag like colors gave it away.

  7. Im an ethnic German Hungarian and have to concur, Hungarian folk dresses don’t have caps and have a lot of flower decorations.

Since many of us were Magyarized I wouldnt be surprised your ancestors claimed the only herirage they had.

  8. The hat as a whole and the decoration of your dress seems odd, but other than that you did a pretty good job.

But I would like to point out a massive mistake. You don’t have pálinka with you. If you don’t get it before the festival, that’s alright, but don’t let it happen again.

  9. i would like to say i did not make this costume nor choose the design so before you come at me for accuracy know that i had no choice in the matter 👍

  10. The costume is totally off (as others said it could come from some special community or special part of hungary though ) but have fun at the harvest festival, enjoy your heritage and visit the real thing one day!

  11. I appreciate your efforts, the costume is nice, even if it is not authentic. Thanks for sharing your pictures.
