Rate of household car ownership in and around Brussels

  1. 100% of the collar communes could be reached by transit. Seems like a failure of planning and policy more than anything else. Sad

  2. Just living outside this map.
Public transport : getting at the train station, no buses or whatever so in need of taking bike or car anyway, then caching a train and taking a bus to the office. Or Just going by car…

    Car has all advantages :
    – comfort (warm in winter, cool in summer, never getting wet when raining, always a seat)
    – reliable
-flexible (you can go whenever you want, not needing to keep an eye on the clock, and you can make stops in supermarkt, dropping People of somewhere,…)
    – speed (even in scenario’s that somebody locks my bike for me, nmbs is always on time, bus and train are aligned perfectly,… I am still at least 50% faster by car. Even taking traffic jams into account)

The only disadvantage is the price…
I need the car anyway for going to supermarkets, social and other past time activities,… Where i am living Public transport is crap. Distance to work is limited, But still more expensive then Public transport which is payed by employer.
So the biggest price is the one for the environment.
But for all other reasons i can imagine, the car is A LOT better.

The only alternative i see for a car are a speed pedelec or a scooter.
