Hello, Here’s where I’m hoping to bike next year with a friend who will be rollerblading…if you happen to know a lot about biking through Belgium, can you look at my map and see if you see any issues with any of the roads I’ve chosen (the route is only reviewed through Tournai as I’m out of waypoints…need to do a new map for France. I plan on going south out of Tournai on N507. Thanks!

  1. Think you better use an app/website like Komoot. It already gives you the best route for your type of bike and you can see the road type. You’ll see where your friend with rollerblades may have some trouble that way.

  2. The part in Kruibeke where you go to the left after De Watermeulen might not be hard enough road to rollerblade. Biking and walking will be possible without doubt. If nobody can confirm or correct me, I could make a small detour after visiting some friends later today.

  3. The part in Antwerp is probably the shortest option, but you’ll be passing through the city centre. Alternatively, you could follow the Ringfietspad. It’s a dedicated cycling path, taking you to the southern tunnel under the Schelde (fietserstunnel above the Kennedytunnel). Unfortunately not very clear on Google Maps.

Is there any reason you’re deviating from the Vaart around Politiezone Voorkempen? The Vaart is a really lovely piece of road without cars going all the way to Schoten. Passing through Schilde and Zoersel will be a bit more busy.

    Have fun on your trip!
