Germany’s new foreign minister puts climate ‘high up’ on diplomatic agenda | New German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has begun her inaugural trip to some of Germany’s neighbors. First stop: Paris. She has pledged to put international climate policies front and center.

“Green party member prioritises climate impact of policy in evaluation.” wouldn’t have made so good a headline, I guess.
Edit: Then again, I’m writing this from BaWü, so maybe I shouldn’t treat this as so obvious.
Hopefully she will learn a thing or two about nuclear energy over there.
what could go wrong
Oh, that’s easy. Just restart the nuclear program and thus avoid being held hostage to Russia in terms of energy dependence.
Is it me or it’s really bad optics to strike for climate and then having a job that using airplanes more often than many other positions?
It’s good that she is doing this, but Germany isn’t a world leader for Green Energy. Germany is currently mining massive amounts of Brown Coal (aka the worst type) in West Germany. They also paused the opening of Nord stream 2.
At this point, green energy policy is a sound economic policy as well. Renewable energy is now the cheapest form of energy all over the world. And the rapidly increasing cost of natural disasters like flooding, droughts, heat waves means it will be cheaper in the long run to take measures that at least stop it from getting worse. For many countries, climate policy will soon be a matter of survival, not an optional thing.
I wish more people stopped seeing it as a cost problem and instead as an economic opportunity.
It’s way too late to build nuclear power plants now.
Dannenröder Forst and Lützerather Wald would like to have a chat about that.
Interesting that the Green minister flew instead of taking a train. Hmmm.
