Kwasi Kwarteng on course to announce ‘George Osborne-level’ spending cuts

  1. I, a lib dem, used to be ok with KK. He seemed to be fairly moderate, now he’s worshipping at the foot of wealth like the rest and I am reminded to never trust a politician.

  2. 12 Years Ago, Osbourne “We’re embracing the politics of austerity to balance the books” (lol)

Now, Kamikwasi Kwarteng “So about those books…”

It is genuinely astonishing how fucking quickly it was catastrophically worse after Boris. I don’t want him back but like holy fucking shit the Tories and their supporters who enable them are are cretinous vermin who shit on the poor & disadvantaged from great height then blame them for not being born into wealth & privelege. Fuck anyone who still votes for them or worships at the altar of Thatcherism.

  3. Not if he wants to appear competent…to find his insanity we may as well close down all public spending…no benefits, no nhs, no schools, no civil service, no pensions…literally turn everything off and hope it balances out.

  4. There is nothing left to cut. If he cuts benefits, then people will starve, be unable to pay rent… die. Oh wait that’s their actual plan. Gotta kill off those disabled to balance the books!

  5. So at the end of the Tory government we’ll have seen the currency plummet, people unable to pay for energy and most likely their mortgage, and all public services will be gutted.

What exactly do they think we want as a public?

  6. Austerity was widely condemned and economists advised against it in the strongest terms back in 2010, we still have not recovered from it and living standards are still below pre-2008 levels (despite the government’s claim that austerity is over). This will just see us enter a pit we cannot escape from without decades of the Tories not being in power. It will be great for consultancy firms, accountants and administrators but deadly for everyone else. Kwarteng must be licking his lips but he truly is a danger to the future of the UK for anyone who is not part of the super-rich. Sadly, it is those super-rich who control most of the media and will convince people the Tories are still the party of fiscal responsibility.

  7. Schools are on a shoe string budget with talks of striking action happening because teachers are paid so badly. We NEED money, for payrises, more staff, building maintenance, equipment, stationary, sporting gear, textbooks, printing, keeping the bloody lights and classrooms above freezing.

There is no fat or muscle left to trim. KK best get his chisel out because he’s at the fucking bone.

  8. Won’t back down on the mini-budget fuckup because it would finally show up the Britannia Unchained ideology for how unhinged it is. Can’t fund their tax cuts because the economic growth they think they’re driving is not going to be immediate, and no-one actually believes it’s going to happen anyway except Patrick Minford, so of course public spending has to be cut.

Osborne’s austerity was just a practice run.

  9. It’s fair as everyone is getting cuts, tax cuts for the rich and benefit cuts for everyone else. You can’t say the government isn’t being thoughtful for us all

    s just in case

  10. Honestly, at this point what else is there left to cut?

Councils are struggling, public services are struggling, welfare is struggling. Where will they cut? All of this because they did some tax cuts, which were not needed. We are going into a recession whether they think the cuts will stop or not. The economy only just missed out on a recession by 0.2%.

The Tories must go and go now.

  11. Everyone here saying life in the U.K. was better pre-austerity, would you kindly extrapolate for me?

I’ve only lived here 4 years and it’s only this last one finances have gotten tighter. Crime still isn’t that bad.

  12. So he’s doubling down on the fuck ups by trying to monetarily cover his earlier fuck ups with yet more?

Where did this joker learn economics, from ‘The Dummies guide to Finance’?

  13. He’s and incompetent c*nt with no financial background, why anyone without any financially literate degree or qualification is allowed into this job is beyond me

  14. We’ve employed a historian to do financials. What the f*ck do we expect. He’s not literate in that category. I have no doubt he’s an intelligent man but he’s not a financially intelligent man.
This role needs requirements. ACCA, CIMA, anything along those lines.

  15. Can someone genuinely answer me, what can be done to get these subhuman freaks out of power right now, cause I can only see violent unrest and guillotines being the answer otherwise

  16. Why don’t people realise that tax cuts = funding cuts elsewhere to counter balance. And also the death cycle of “the public sector is inefficient so let’s reduce funding”, leading to poorly equipped departments it just ridiculous.
