This won’t get a general election earlier, but a massive signature count will certainly be bad optics for the current government. Getting this to the #1 or nearest top 3 spot in the biggest petitions of all time will certainly not be a good look.

And it will be rejectet. Tories might be stupid, but they are not that dumb.
Tories have been winning elections on the back of pushing a narrative of balancing books so that debts are paid off, like a sensible household. Attacking Labour for wanting to spend on anything no matter how good an investment it might be. And now they think they can cut taxes for the rich with a blank checkbook and people will swallow it! they are going against their own propaganda and they have no way back from it.
If David Cameron thinks Ed Miliband would have caused more chaos than this; I’d love for a Netflix Drama to focus on that alternate Universe.
Adam Driver as Miliband co-starring; James Corden as Ed Balls, Emma Stone as Harriet Harman and Henry Cavill as Andy Burnham.
The episodes would focus on Miliband’s disastrous decision to send The Royal Navy to the South China Sea to ‘Fight Covid’. his plans to hold a ‘Cheese and Wine’ rave at the O2 with all World Leaders during lockdown; an attempt to stand up to Putin by threatening to have his older brother (David Miliband played by Matthew Horne) beat him up and a wretched faux-pa at The Queen’s funeral where he mistakes her coffin for a buffet table and rests his sandwich on it.
It’ll be the usual drivel response about how Truss is delivering for the British people blah blah blah
Pretty sure the government poll website just exists to trick people into thinking they are having an impact so they dont do anything more overt like protest or riot.
The Tories would rather watch us all burn to death than give up power willingly
All it’s gonna take is about seventy rebel MPs for this motion to go through. Rebels that could easily hold the party hostage if Truss doesn’t resign.
While it’s unlikely the government would do anything this might be a signal to labour that they should call a vote of no confidence in the government. Potentially win-win for them, either enough Tory MPs (only needs about 50) decide to save the country and vote in support and there will be an early election or they don’t and the oppositions election leaflets in any Tory MPs constituencies will be easier to write.

Should have happened when Bojo the ape was forced to resign. If a PM resigns or quits before their term is up, it should automatically grigger a general election. Instead of basically allowing unelected PMs.

She has no mandate, they’re already rolling back on many of the manifesto commitments that they were elected on. There should be an election but there’s absolutely zero chance of that happening.
