Hearing “vive la résistance” puts nothing but a smile on my face
I mean there is nothing better hearing for a french than that or “Vive la Révolution !”
When it’s Francis Lalanne, Fabrice Di Vizio or Florian Philippot who are talking about the resistance, it’s always more cringe than offensive.
That’s just a dumb American take.
They would find you weird more than anything.
Yes, it’s very offensive to culturally appropriate the French resistance, unless a Person of France has explicitly invited you to do so.

il y aura de la confusion mais c’est tout
J’ai l’impression les américains ils savent toujours qui est offusqué par quoi
No
No.
I mean, not more than if you say “It’s just like the French Resistance!”. If you’re tying to compare the French Resistance to some horrible ideology, especially Nazisme, then we might get offended.
But outside of those situations, we tend to be **proud** of peoples feeling inspired by our past.
And peoples saying “Vive la Résistance !” in French is much more appreciable than them saying “Hon Hon Hon, Baguettes !”.
I get the comment. After all, “Vive la résistance” is linked to a bloody time, inside France and in Europe.
But, the thing is… Us French are quite proud about our bloody past. After all, did you look at the text of our national anthem?
So, apart from the few royalists in France (poor souls), either French people will not care or be happy about that (seeing that as a sentence linked to fighting for more equality and liberty for example). And personally, I’m part of the last group, so…
VIVE LA RÉSISTANCE !!!
I don’t get why it would be offensive ? Is this because it would be “cultural appropriation” ?If yes, that’s stupid.
Il ressemble à Micode .
C’est quoi le contexte exactement?
Nop, I think we are generally quite proud of our resistance history !
Wtf ?!
Longue vie au roi! 😎
