5. So glad that Cyprus is not part of Greece… you know what I think would be best for everyone. The people who want Cyprus to be either Greek or Turkish should just move to their respective motherlands and leave the rest of us here to decide what to do with it. If Cyprus ever becomes part of Greece, I will probably be one of the founding members of EOKA C’ or wtv to fight for my country’s independence back.

Not really sure if I want to comment on the historical reasons, as it will spark another dumpster-fire of a comment thread where people will say some variation of “my ethnicity is better than yours and we are the chosen ones because reasons”. I would like to comment on present and future. I think Cyprus is better off as independent from both Greece and Turkey, since both countries have their own issues to deal with and Cyprus would inevitably be some low level priority which will make any progress immensely slow and difficult. I think it makes sense for a complicated place like Cyprus to be making its own administrative decisions to have agility in facing problems, all this with the caveat we somehow got our collective shit together and dealt with it. Union with either Turkey or Greece would only create more issues than resolve any
