Apparently it’s yet to be detected in Northern Ireland.
I don’t quite understand why this is significant? This variant has a number of mutations which are concerning, okay, but until we know for sure what those mutations will do what’s the point in reporting this?
It looks like the doubling rate of this thing is much faster than earlier variants, about 2 maybe 3 days. Expect this thing to absolutely explode really quickly. This level of virulence there isn’t a lot that we can do, it seems not to care about vaccines or prior infections. The hope is the early data suggests its milder and that vaccinations reduce serious disease but I don’t think we will know for sure for weeks and by that point millions would be infected anyway.
Odds are you will catch this in 2-6 weeks time, going to be no practical way to avoid this it will be everywhere it just spreads too fast.
