Stonehenge tunnel contracts worth £1.7bn signed

  1. Note – this doesn’t mean a tunnel is to be built. They’re apparently just “pencilling” the contractors for the job.

    FWIW I think it’s a mistake. Re-route the traffic away from the site completely.

  2. I thoughts the plans were off the table? Then again…there are always matey deals to be signed. So they get their money whether or not the tunnel is build or not.

  3. Stonehenge is the key to restoring the old ways. The question is whether we consider communing with demons a fair price for dealing with the current ones.

  4. I’ve never understood why they don’t just plant a row of large trees/bushes along the road side to stop people gawping at stone henge whilst driving at 30 mph.

  5. Wouldn’t it cost a fraction of that to just build a big glass box around Stonehenge ? Why do the thousands of year old big Lego blocks need protected from anyway ?
