I just wanted to share that I’d knitted my first Selbuvotter (aaaand a matching beanie)! I’m super happy with them and can’t wait to make them as presents this year 🙂

I’d gladly take these as presents. They look amazing!
Oh my god thats so impressive its almost hard to belive its hand made! I dont know if anyone could make it better, and your first one! WOW! Well done!
These are lovely, well done!!
I have knitted many pairs of selbuvotter so I know the work that goes into them. Well done!
Well done, they look great 👍
Looks nice. Good job!
Wow! Theese look amazing. You are really good at knitting.
And I love a tiny bit of colour in the middle of the rose. Selbuvotter are often monochrome, at least the ones I have had, but that is a tasteful way of adding a delicate colour detail.
I wish I had the patience to knit, I’d love those amazing mittens. Well done!
Beautifully made. I really like the touch of red there, very nice. Good quality work!
Ooooooh lovely!!!
They look amazing! Haha those lonely red stitches though
It’s so nice to see this lovely tradition spreading and retaining good craftsman ship. I was in Selbu a few days ago working with the Selbu Spinneri as my university is working with tem to develope new yarns for knitters and weavers to use in traditional handwork. Many of these amazing women I’ve worked with have really been focusing on increasing the value people place on Selbu-knitting and the fineness of the mittens and stockings knit there, so It’s so nice to see this continuing to spread and maintaining quality 🙂
These are so beautiful! I think you did an incredible job!

Ahh wonderful! I have 2 pairs of selbuvotter and I adore them. One has lasted me 20 years now, still going strong!
Amazing! These are great 🙂
Great job!! I find that I like the traditional patterns more and more, I’ve never really appreciated the Selbu pattern inntil I took up knitting earlier this year.
Are you able to read patterns in Norwegian at all? If so, there are a couple of books with traditional patterns from different regions of Norway. There’s also a book with only Selbu patterns (it doesn’t provide you with knitting patterns, but it shows the roses etc in gridded schemes, if that makes sense).
Ahhh… You used baltic pagan “Auseklis” symbol, nice.
