World’s first nuclear fusion power plant to be built in Nottinghamshire creating hundreds of jobs

  1. Can I make a humble suggestion to the powers that be?

Drop the word *nuclear* and *reactor* from the description of this type of energy.

How about *Fission Plant* as an alternative?

My experience of talking to the slack jawed average member of the general public is that they simply aren’t capable of understanding the difference between this and Nuclear Fission Reactors. Consequently they just see this as a re-branding of such reactors and assume it will come with all the same problems of radioactivity, leakage, possible meltdowns, explosions and toxic waste as fission.

I am tired of trying to explain the difference.

Just change the name. That’s what we did with Nuclear Resonance Scanning- we changed the name to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) simply because people were afraid of it under the previous name. We need to do the same thing with this.

  2. I hate to shit on Mogg’s strawberries, but has there actually been a sustainable fission reaction anywhere on the planet that could run like a NG enough to give us sustainable electricity?
