The name of the bridge (Puente Nuevo) literally translates to *new bridge*.
The much smller Puente Viejo or old bridge was built by the romans and is still in use to this day.
Oh I’ve been there, it was truly remarkable! Also the food was delicious because y’know, Spain.
Also the gorge is one of the highest points in the surrounding countryside which makes it even cooler, there’s a lot of flatter farmland/plains around it so there’s not much to obstruct your view. Very majestic.
