The U.S. Is Finally Taking a Side in the Armenia-Azerbaijan Conflict

  1. Nature abhors a vacuum.

When Europe turned its eyes away from Africa, first China and then Russia moved to bring them into their orbit. And with Russia getting its ass kicked across the Eurasian steppe, the US is gladly exerting influence in the Caucasus.

It’s only vaguely alluded to in the article — noting two US lawmakers who are Armenian — but in California there is a very powerful, very wealthy Armenian constituency. It’s not a coincidence that Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) was the one that paid a visit.

  2. I’ve noticed a lot of Armenia Good / Azerbaijan Bad stories recently. Funny how they started as soon as the US decided which side it was going to take – especially as it follows the EU announcement to extend the Southern Gas Corridor from Azerbaijan.

    Coincidence, I’m sure.
