  1. I don’t believe these made up numbers my weekly grocery has gone up by 60% and my monthly energy bill has doubled compared to last year.

My phone and broadband bills also has gone up but I cancelled my TV licence direct debit it’s pretty even with that considered.

  2. This is pretty huge news. To grow at all when inflation is this high means nominal gdp growth is very high. This will mean that PSNBex as a share of gdp is likely already falling and gives more room for fiscal stimulus.

The consensus was that we were in a recession.

Lockdown shown to have done even more damage than feared though.

  3. Cue the supporters of KamiKwazi economics pointing to this and going “see? We were right!!”

The editors of the Daily Mail and the Telegraph will be wanking themselves silly.

  4. ‘Grew in the 3 months to June’

So before Boris resigned. This has no real bearing on the current situation, only that the economy was growing 4 months ago, and we might not be in a recession as per definition, but the economy right now is seriously having a bad time.

  5. This is quite misleading of a title right now, it grew before June. Everyone’s going to read this and think it’s referring to right now

  6. The last two year record money printing stimulus worldwide. it’s going to take a long time to squeeze out of economy.there is a record savings aswell built up last two years from people not going on holiday etc

  7. It seems like the statistical office has been wrong and there is growth. Maybe a reason for the stronger sterling?
