I found what I think is an old birth certificate and was wondering if anyone could help translate.
Matúš (name) born in 1870 in Blatnica (Slovak village)
Born in 1870.
Date: March 8 1870
Birth name: Matus
Parents: Jozef Malina, Anna Luptak
Address: Blatnica 124
Godparents: Duro Duchaj, Zuza Ursiny
Baptist: Andrej Chorvath
In Blatnica, June 16 1884
Interesting that this paper has stamp of 50 krajciar, according to this article it was worth of about a days pay for construction hand. Or about of 3 loafs of bread.
There should be more records under the photo. It’s mostly just his children being born, two of them being buried. I have no idea if this is helpful, but I figured having more names to search for should make it easier to find something. Also ignore the name Lifewood, it’s nowhere in the initial photo, must be just a transcription error.
I also found multiple people named Matúš Lupták who immigrated to USA from Slovakia in that approximate time frame but it’s a really common name and there isn’t much information in those records so it’s basically impossible to tell if any of those people could be the person you’re searching for. Are you from New York by any chance?
