Prime Minister Liz Truss defends economic strategy despite fiscal chaos after mini-budget

  1. She didn’t defend the budget. She kept defending on the energy bill (that was not contentious) while ignoring the part that causes the problems: the inequal tax cuts.

When she was asked about the market run on the £, she blamed the BoE.

  2. My dad worked with her years ago. He said she was consistently the loudest and stupidest in the room and they tended to ignore her inputs. Seems like the Dunning–Kruger effect in full force.

  3. Didn’t she say she had to take action to get the economy moving? Maybe she doesn’t understand that the direction it moves in is important.

  4. There are still working class voters who will vote for this shower of incompetent bastards. That’s the real horror.

  5. Angela Rayner on fire earlier with (paraphrasing) ‘the prime minister has broken her excruciatingly long silence, with a series of excruciating short silences”

    ROFL

  6. There is no certainty that saved money will result in growth.
If you want to help, give tax cuts to business that invest/employ etc.

Putting money in their pockets and just hoping that it gets reinvested doesn’t work.
Multinational companies may well pay a bonus to the CEO or take the money and invest in another countries with more trading potential or lower headcount costs.

  7. Getting a little tired of being right about the Tories. Can’t wait for the next step down the ladder of shite.

  8. I truly don’t understand. She rejects calls for pay rises but supports trickle down economics where the end result should be a pay rise.

She says pay rises will cause inflation but supports a “mini budget” which is destroying the economy and sparking inflation. She wants economics without any of the “trickling down”.

  9. After seeing her called Margerine Thatcher yesterday
It should be the lady is not for churning

  10. She hasn’t defended it, she’s reiterated what she already said – she’s delivered up no defence as to why her GCSE level economic plan is going to work, offered any policy explanation etc to provide comfort or reassurance.

Here’s her quandary, to withdraw the budget would be political suicide – she has but one option and that’s to double down and do the immoral thing of dragging the UK economy with her, because well – when have we seen morality from this government in the last 12 years!

  11. It’s past time for the Tories to be relegated to the pages of history. They are shameless robber barons who worship at the altar of greed.

  12. KwasiTru economics is first tank the economy and later IF the economy even gets back on track to gapping up they will be like ‘look at this growth we achieved!’

  13. How long are we giving her before she’s ousted? I’ve got £20 that she’ll be gone by the end of the year.
