Another child, along with Jacob Lennon, tortured to death by those who should have loved and protected them. These are just the stories sensational enough to make the national news. The tip of the iceberg. How many more children are out there, right now, being completely failed by social services? What is wrong with society that we allow this to happen over and over again?
Just like Arthur Hughes, Star had loving relatives who doted on her, and would have looked after her in a heartbeat. Just like Arthur, multiple family members made reports to Children’s Services after seeing Star covered in bruises. Just like Arthur, Star was kept away from the wider family after those reports so they couldn’t raise any more complaints. And just like Arthur, Star’s useless, waste of space parent was in a relationship with an utter psychopath who murdered her baby.
Just like Baby P.
Just like Victoria Climbie.
Just like all the other murdered children whose deaths led to a “serious case review”, with social services claiming “lessons have been learned”.
