Liz Truss: It’s not fair to have a recession

  1. I am try to look for redeeming context here, but I only see bullshit.

    > Prime minister Liz Truss has defended the fairness of tax cuts in last week’s mini-budget.

    > Speaking to Radio Nottingham, she said it wasn’t “fair to have a recession” or for people to not “get high paying jobs in the future”.

Help, how does any of this make sense?

  2. Most Prime Ministers have a group of advisors, people whose opinion and ideas they hold in high regard and help them make decisions on policy. It would appear that Liz Truss advisors are some self serving greedy bastards who have no interest in anyone other than themselves. The United Kabinet.

  3. It’s not fair that …
People can’t afford to buy or even rent.
    People can’t afford food.
People have no opportunities or training.
People have a Third World Health system.
People have crap pensions and no Social Security safety net.
It’s just not fair, living in the UK the Conservatives have made… It’s not fair that we have an unelected head of state and politicians who are as thick as two very short planks…

  4. … what? Is anybody calling for one, Truss? If we land in one, which it seems we will, who will have got us there..?

Her gov has jumped the shark. They’ve gone from terrible policies (or total lack of policies where they’re needed) that they can at least *pretend* to justify, to literally just putting random words together in an attempt to form a coherent thought and failing. This is literally nonsense. This government can’t form a singular reasoned thought. They’ve actually got jelly for brains.

  5. It’s not fair that you’re the Prime Minister with free control to destroy what was left of the Country after 12 years of your disastrous party. Fucking do one.

  6. Well, I thought she was crazy, but on hearing those noises she made with her mouth, her well reasoned argument has convinced me that it’s actually OK to wreck the economy, as one day, at some point in the future, someone may get an even heftier salary in return for ripping the rest of us off for every penny of extractable profit.

  7. Liz: Why does my dream not work and has resulted in a Lehman style collapse of Pension funds that it turns out were just overleveraged Ponzi schemes and the only solutions are to back track, print money and cause Hyperinflation or cause a full bankruptcy of the UK
    Why!!!!

Oncoming Recession: You’re right. This isn’t fair. I’m sorry Liz. I will go home now. Good luck with your fairy tale…

  8. Ahhh its the public’s fault for not wanting to get better paying jobs. How could we all have been so stupid!

I’m betting all the disabled people they have pushed to ruin over the last decade are loving hearing Tories cry about things not being fair now.

  9. Yeh sorry Liz we all got together at our secret peasant meetup and decided we’d make ourselves poorer just to spite you.

  10. Fish me, I didn’t believe it, but In honestly think she’s just plain daft. Johnson was a manipulating, self interested liar, but this one, she’s just plain daft.

  11. So why are you tanking the economy and then refusing to fix it? It’s not fair and it was entirely preventable, now you are doing nothing to fix it; that’s what is not fair.

  12. What the actual fuck?

Lots of things aren’t fair. They’re gonna happen anyway. As for the recession, if you think it’s not fair… stop exacerbating it.

And for the view that high taxes reduce growth. That may or may not be true. That was not the question that was asked though.

  13. It’s not fair to have an idiot government pushing us into Brexit, recession, worst devaluing of our currency in 37 years, and probably next NHS dismantling.

    Give us a general election.

  14. It’s not fair that we have a Prime Minister who was elected by 0.2% of the population…

  15. It’s not fair that we have a Prime Minister who was elected by 0.2% of the population…

  16. It’s not fair that we have a Prime Minister who was elected by 0.2% of the population…

  17. I guess it’s enough just to make a name in history by having been the PM, no matter what sort of unsolvable crisis you’re wading into, and the Tories seem to be especially adept at getting their women into these quagmires. First Theresa May and now Liz Truss.

  18. Never has a PM made my blood boil so much.

Rather than turning and trying to avoid the iceberg, she seems to be aiming straight for it.

Sure the end result is the same but it will at least buy everyone a bit more time to adjust to the impending doom of the once great wealthy nation to a bankrupt nation that will inevitably come crawling back to the EU for help.

  19. “It’s not fair to have a recession” says the woman causing a recession and doing fuck all about it.

  20. Well we were pretty much in recession but now thanks to truss that is probably guaranteed. Yes yes fuckwit truss it is not fair. Thanks for all your business acumen.

  21. So, I’m an American who lived in the UK for a long time. I’m clear on most things in British politics. What I’m not clear on is, how is a general election triggered? There doesn’t seem to be any consistency to it.

  22. Oh, poor liz. Poor wittle wiz who has to run a country and live on thousands, tens of thousands of pounds per year whilst people like me, who are on zero contract hours are seeing our costs of living rise. Honestly, I legit believe I can’t afford to rent and live in a flat because of it. I literally can’t rely on my month to month income because of the nature of zero hour contracts.

Liz Truss can fuck off. In fact, she should fuck off, call a general election. If she is tryin to get pity then give everyone a couple grand as a one off payment. Hell, 10k for everyone would go a long way. Instead of £150 for some people, the rest get fuck all.

  23. Right now, when I think of Truss, I think of a small child waiting by the fireplace as dawn breaks, unable to process the fact that Santa never came.
