Um I am not so sure about that. There needs to be a lot of work done on curbing corruption especially I am told in Romania. Otherwise it’s going to be a lot cheaper to sneak into the EU.

All 3 (Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania) deserve the Schengen accession

I say that’s not good – it will take years. How about act like Poland and Hungary and veto everything going on in EU – maybe the neanderthal people (sorry Netherlands people) will learn not to be so xenophobic towards Romanian people. Who knows..

I can’t speak for Romania, but frankly, BG is not too deserving. We have wasted the last dozen years with the incredibly corrupt government of BB and his party.
No, they do not deserve or at least not the corrupt politicians.
The Schengen access was tied to the justice reforms to fight the corruption. Now they are just getting a “get out of jail” card because they are helping Ukraine.
In Romania the main corrupted parties which used to be rivals got into a corruption alliance with a super majority which is butchering the justice laws and also planning to do the same with the constitution to undermine the democracy rules.
Just to give you a recent example. Under the “fog war” they were planning to make a law not to allow to anonymously report the corruption acts. Luckily, they were told not do it if they still want to receive the “recovery money” from EU
Another example from Romania. They increase several times more the public money that the parties are receiving from Romania’s budget, and they use those money to pay the TV stations and the press agencies. They are refusing to disclose how those money is spent even if are public money. Exactly like Orban in Hungary.
In Bulgaria they just held the 5th election in 18 months after they thrown the most reformist Prime Minister (Harvard educated) just to elect a corrupt piece of sh*t who kept Bulgaria for decades under mafia control.
So do not make the mistake to help, to give popularity to those corrupted pieces of sh*t as have you done with Orban.

How does not being part of the Schengen affect the average person in real life? Visa? Border control? Etc.
After Turkish occupation, Austrian occupation, Tatar raids and again Russian occupation, we now have to deal with obnoxious Holland stealing our right.
