A new momument, ‘Ode to the Resistance, unveiled at the Fort van Breendonk

   Last week a new monument, ‘Ode to the Resistance’ was unveiled at the Fort van Breendonk, in the presence of the representative of our king and our minister of Defence.

   Thanks for sharing this, had no idea this was being unveiled.

5. nice gesture, but “monument” is a bit of a reach

6. Yikes, so many reasons to dislike this ‘monument’.

7. ??? That’s more like a monument for the oppressed? Where’s the resistance angle here?

8. I’m never going back to Breendonk. Don’t want to feel bad like that again.

   EDIT :

   Just to point out that the War Heritage Institute did a great job at the fort, it’s just that the history is so harrowing, and I was crying by the end.

   Damn, my eyes are watering again.

9. Isn’t there a spelling mistake in the artist name.

   Same artist that made the controversial Jacques Brel Statue.

   I’ll be honest I am not a fan. I see what he wanted to portay but it lacks subtility.

   Plus I saw the clip a few times and you can argue on weither or not the statue are fighting against the heel or trying to save themselves.

    Edit: it also completly misses to portray the intended messagel, it looks like the Boot is winning the fight.
