Reason might be much more obv. There are elections next year in Poland, reparations are simply part of the election program. Gov wants to use Germany to help itself and mobilize part of the voters.

Well they want to make another tax – 50% of extraordinary profit frm big companies. You want to fight with inflation? Make some new tax and wait for them to lower their prices. Isn’t it obvious?
