I can only say… correct. I am really not noticing anything about this huge crisis. Yes my energy bill went a bit higher but not in a way I would say “oh stop heating our house!”

Jup, taxing those will probably not solve a lot budget wise but the impression it gives is much more harmful.

I must say, this is also the perception I have of Bouchez. A very detached person.
Overal a good interview, really powerful way to show the unions in a better spotlight.
Fine if you also cut unemployment benefits and scrap the fiscal benefit for union dues.
You can see company cars the other way around as well. Getting a car from the company would save me a lot of money and would be a way more effective way to enlarge my buying power than anything the government has done. On top of that, it would indeed be an electric one making my old, dirty diesel obsolete. (I’m probably the standard, single, lower middle class. Not poor, definitely not rich)
Now, we can also scrap the whole company car thing. But don’t come complaining if I keep riding my old diesel until it literally falls apart on the highway. If it wasn’t for company car rules, I doubt electrification of our cars was even noticeable.

Ah, because it’s only upper management who has these I guess? If they cut things like this they should also cut some of the taxes on labor because I would need a ridiculous extra amount of bruto wage to compensate for a company car and tank card.

They have been awfully quiet, considering Belgian employees are getting absolutely fuckiny recked by inflation.
Allemaal fijn en wel, maar hoe zit het dan met verlof en hoger pensioen en vast werk en andere voordelen (zoals koringen op vanal) waarvan veel ambtenaren deze al krijgen? Indien ze dit gelijktijdig in zijn geheel platstrijken vind ik het ok.
De terugdraaiende teller is nog zo’n schandaal. Wanneer gaan deze mensen het verschil terug betalen?

Oblivious dat het hele systeem kriek krak in elkaar zit. 20% heeft een bedrijfswagen, 100% betaalt er voor mee om het hele systeem te onderhouden.
Er is een mentaliteit-shift nodig. Zolang ze geen fluit aantrekken van de benzineprijs gezien ze het toch niet moeten betalen zijn ze ook niet geneigd om eens de auto niet te gebruiken. Naar de bakker om de hoek? Auto natuurlijk, kost hun toch niets. En dat zie je overal.
Deze crisis vergroot enkel maar de kloof nog eens tussen de lagen van de maatschappij.

I “had to” choose a company car, my new employer wouldn’t offer me anything at all instead of that. Ultimately I took the damn thing and sold my old car. But I hope a future government will change the taxation rules, so I can argue to my employer that I need to be compensated for the inevitable loss of my useless company car (I’m one of those people who has an office job, lives near the office and can homework all the time). It was budget wise irresponsible to not take the car compared to owning, but I’d change it in a heartbeat.
So they want to take away my car and my werkbonus? I thought their goal was to help the poor out of poverty, while these kind of ridiculous things will just throw the lower middle class into poverty
I would like to add here that it’s really not just the top 1% that owns a fully detached EPC 10 house full of solar panels that has a company car. There’s plenty of people in the middle/working classes that have company cars too and those are going to feel the impact of the energy prices a lot more than mr CEO with his Taycan.
I do agree profvoetballers should be taxed like any normal job (and by extension other sporters too if that isn’t the case yet).
Our tax system has become way too complex with all kinds of deductions, benefits, special tariffs etc etc.
Everybody has a few in mind that make no sense, but there’s always a group of beneficiaries who will resist getting rid of them.
So we will keep getting these discussions until there’s a complete overhaul.

Everytime we have this discussion I’m always baffled that the focus is mainly on the differences between people who earn €1800 a month and €3000 a month. (employees vs small independent businesses)
This is so divisive, and is there to draw the focus away from big multinationals paying so little taxes.
There’s a huge difference between the people that have a company car and those with vacation homes. I do have a company car and far from rich. And I’m sure there are alot of people in the same situation as I am in.
The situation where we make enough money to be excluded from beneficial policies in this time of crisis, but still enough to be victim to these payment cuts. If I would lose my company car, my employer would either have to compensate with netto loon or I would have to make a serious investment in a new car.
Yes! We want less cash for the people and more cash for the state! More money to our good leaders! Eager to spend time with my kids this winter when the schools stop heating the classes and the teachers go in the streets to protest. Please give us more sharing of the pie, not more pie. More taxes and more money for the state. State takes good decisions and 50% of our salaries is not enough.

I have a leasing budget of 450 euros and my employer has contracts with car dealerships for discounts. This allows me to drive a nearly full-option Audi. If I’d give up the car I’d have about 8000 euro gross more per year. Net this would come to about a 200 euro per month increase. Id never be able to buy and maintain an equivalent car for the money I’d “gain” even with the proposed 5% tax bracket shift. We’d either have to reinvent the taxation system entirely or leave everything as is imo.
Geen bedrijfswagen = minstens 500 euro meer brutoloon + gunstige km vergoeding.. ik ga me plezier nr mn nederlandse klanten mocht dit werkelijkheid worden.
