Is this even legal? I was expecting them to raise the tariff, but they made it flexible?!

  1. Als uw vast contract ten einde was, dan vrees ik dat ze dat mogen doen ja. Wel duizeligwekkende 10% korting als je blijft hé! ._.

  2. They have to warn you 2 months before the end of your current contract but yeah they can do it. You’re free to shop when you want for cheaper alternatives but for the moment, nearly noone propose fixed prices and the one that do are really high.

  3. Well, nobody offers a vast contract anymore, so if your current one expires they can offer you a flexible one. It is your right to decline this of course but again, no one else offers a vast contract. So if that is what you want, you will be dissapointed.

  4. Same here.. But my question is, it’s my first time going “Flexible” with my electricity bill, does that mean I will not have a “regularisation bill” at the end of the year ? Since I pay every month for exactly what I consume ?

  5. I am expecting this letter any day now. If your fix contract date is coming up then yes, they can. For people who still have a couple of years on it, they have to keep their end of the deal

  6. Why would it *not* be legal?

You had a contract for a fixed term. That term is coming to an end and they are proposing an alternative for what comes after…

  7. I love how OP thought he had discovered a way to just have a fixed contract until the end of time while everyone’s struggling with high energy prices.

  8. I received the same mail today. You can see on your mail that the new tarieven will be implemented on 23.12, I think that is the end of your vast contract. On my mail I can see 21.12 and that is the end of my contract. You can also log on to luminus.be and check your current contract. For me it is still a vast contract for now.
    Edit: from translated to english

  9. At least you get a warning, MEGA without informing us changed our fixed contract that was valid until the end of 2024 without notifying us to a variable contract. We noticed when the first invoice came in our advance was suddenly x8. So we left MEGA.

  10. Have you checked the prices of the fixed contract lately?
Tjey were outrages, be happy that they switch you to flex.
The fixed prices were even for current market insane.

  11. God mine is set to switch in november as well and i’m terrified of what i’m going to have to pay. i was lucky to still have a fixed contract but still, it doubled from last year. And now i don’t have a clue how it’s going to turn out. i just don’t know where i could still save in usage.

The only comfort i have right now is that i still have stookolie and so i don’t have to pay the exorbitant gasprices.

  12. They can indeed do this. Since the recent energy crisis every energy supllier can change your contract from fixed to variable after ur contract ended. Not all energy suppliers do this , most do tho

  13. Luminus be like : “wij kunnen geen vaststaand bedrag op je tarief stellen, maar we kunnen met zekerheid een fixed 5tot 10% korting geven als je hier blijft”

  14. This post made me block the automatic payments to Eneco. Their platform seems to be failing, and I haven’t received any invoices the last 4 months. After contacting them, they told me they couldn’t do much about it and I should be patient. I’m afraid they will pull something similar.

  15. You should contact Luminus to make sure this correspondence actually came from them. They can’t simply change your contract without your approval.

This could be those correspondence scams!

  16. I hate how companies can make any promise but when it doesn’t work out they can just undo them. This makes me VERY mad. This is unfair and i hate that this is actually allowed

  17. Bruh have you been living under a rock??? There are no more set tarrifs. So when you contract with set tarrifs ends you get a new one with flexible tarrifs. Not one supplier provides set tarrifs anymore. This only has been all over the news and social media for about 8 months.

  18. We need a price cap, or one day we will have texas here (was a time when there was short kWh price spike to $10/kWh if I remember good).

  19. If you stay with Luminus with this Comfy Flex contract, I would tell them/demand that 10% domiciliëring discount better be active right away. You’ve been a customer since 2019.

  20. My friend is in luck, he has a fixed pricing contract till the end of the year.

Its like a suckerpunch for me aswell..

  21. Comfyflex … hahaha it so ridiculous how companies give their essential bland products sexy names to justify their high prices.

I just changed my interenet subscription: business flex essential

    Lol

  22. They can change the terms of a contract, but you have the right to decline. In which case you can go elsewhere and any extra costs that are incurred they have to pay.
