I have read negative opinions about the Gare neighbourhood here, I’m curious what people think of the location of this property (28, Boulevard d’Avranches in L-1160 Luxembourg)?

Am visiting Luxembourg for a housing/scouting trip next week, and am intrigued by the property location and proximity to my office. Not sure if I should stick to Limpertsberg/Merl/Belair and avoid this area – hoping to get some thoughts from people on the ground! Thank you!

I haven’t really been on that street in particular, but by the looks of it it should be outside of the “bad” areas.
I think renting an apartment in Gare is a good idea in general, because it has a bad reputation even though only like 25% of it lives up to that reputation. This means that the other 75% is relatively underpriced. I also live in Gare (on the other side though) and couldn’t be happier.
This area should be very safe, only few meters from police hq.
The appartement is really nice, 180sqm, terrace. Bathroom is a bit outdated. If you aren’t sarcastic and can afford this, you will have an exclusive an well centered appartment with an amazing view (not much can top this view tbh).
You don’t seriously want to waste 4,2k per month
It is not really Gare, or on the edge of Gare I’d say. I lived on nearby Boulevard de la Pétrusse. It’s a good area. Incidents happen but they are much rarer compared to the hotspots, such as rue de Strasbourg and surroundings.
