Why? It is stupid for Poland to want that. Poland won’t be any safer for having nukes that it can’t even launch, but it will become a target for nukes of USA enemies.

Hosting advanced defensive systems is what any Eastern flank country should want. Actual nukes being in Poland (when Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium already do, among others), makes no sense. This smacks of over-the-top grandstanding from a government that is rightfully being suspicious of Russia but using the situation to ensure the international conversation surrounding Poland is overwhelmingly about its military posturing and support for Ukraine/tip-of-the-spear on the Eastern flank and not anything to do with its continued internal politics and dismantling of the rule of law putting it in conflict with the rest of the EU.
