  1. Do you think I can get a job providing absurdly upbeat spin on complete shit shows to our government. I reckon I can tell her eastenders is proof our culture isn’t a joke because its so good.

  2. He’s right – for disaster capitalists that are pulling the strings in the Conservative Party at the moment this isn’t a crisis, this is what the Americans call a ‘yard sale’.

Alternatively; the only people who think this isn’t the intended purpose of Truss’ government are the idiots here. (IMO)

It’s only for the rest of us that actually use and value the pound in our day to day lives that it is a crisis. You know, the 99% of the rest of the country…

  3. it’s always fucking Minford, don’t think they’ve got anyone else… they rolled him out for pro-brexit economics too

  4. I knew it was dimford before I even saw the pic. The guy is a one stop shop for lunacy. It’s like you have to really be so hell bent and stupid, you pick from the fifth or sixth tier the same clown who has been badly wrong about everything…

  5. If the “mini budget” (read biggest unfunded tax cut for decades) goal was reducing inflation.
The pound falling against the dollar, the go to currency for foreign trade, is absolutely a crisis.
This will only serve to increase costs further. The only thing that will save us Is container shipping prices reducing recently but they will bottom out very soon in the next few months in the run up for Christmas.

Kwasi has served up a fat turd.

  6. Pity the poor sods that actually have to pay to listen to what this moron says. You’d be forgiven for mistaking his mouth for an arsehole…

  7. Why won’t they stop giving this twat the oxygen of publicity? How is he even a professor when he’s been proven consistently wrong since the 80’s.

  8. When Reagan was in office, his wife, Nancy, used to consult a psychic, who would advise her on the best decisions her husband could take

Powerful people are just as susceptible to snake oil salesmen as everyone else

  9. > “It makes perfect sense for sterling to fall further over the long term to stimulate exports as imports rise in response to higher growth,” he wrote in the Telegraph. “We should let the market do its work on this front.

So we should *assume* that we already have higher growth causing rising imports, and on that basis a weak pound is needed to stimulate exports? I can’t see how else to read that.

  10. This guy needs to be sent to clear minefields in Ukraine. Pound goes down against dollar, oil and various other commodities gets more expensive. Like we needed more inflation right now. Dimwit.

  11. Patrick Minford has said that he remains convinced that low taxes, free trade and deregulation are what is needed to revitalise the economy.

Free trade is the key, then.
If only we had a trading block near-by….
