Reddit has always been a safe haven for people boards.ie rejected.
It just so happened boards.ie rejected the vast majority of its user base overnight, in one of the most stunning acts of self harm I’ve ever seen….

This sub has become completely unreadable, I actively avoid it now as it is the most toxic, hostile and depressing subreddit I frequented. The mods really need to get a handle on things because the mood has dropped off a cliff the past two years. I find myself browsing /r/northernireland more these days despite being from the south.

Boards.ie was such a fucking great place originally. I’m talking after it moved from being the quake board to the original boards between like 99-2001.
Back then , actually getting on the internet was ‘hard’, so even with the rampant shithousery going on, there was a certain level of expectation that the people you were talking to , or insulting, were of a certain baseline intelligence. Those days are sadly gone.
It’s great though that any person whose ever posted on [Boards.ie](https://Boards.ie) has a favourite [Boards.ie](https://Boards.ie) gowl that you wanted to virtually punch, true legacy.

As soon as this sub shifts from a “landlords are scum” majority to “well, acktually, they are very hardworking people and tenants are scum”, then the transition will be complete.

Absolutely. The Boards “upgrade” was the worst thing to happen to this sub.
Used to like Boards.ie but the same posters starting shit and the site redesign killed it for me. Mods too heavy handed with the banhammer also didn’t help and I found it got very clique-y.
It’s not board’s bad.
These days [boards.ie](https://boards.ie) is like one of those sad, dying towns where most of the houses are empty and the local shop has one confused old lady endlessly wandering the aisles.
Scored some amount of drugs from there years and years ago.
Boards is a shit place anyway, one of the worst forums I ever seen. Their censorship and moderatorship in general is just ridiculous.

Now you mention it, the drop off here did happen right around the time boards.ie underwent one of the most disastrous overhauls I’ve ever heard of, where they made everyone’s private messages public (including ones with the likes of bank account info on them) and moved everyone’s personal data out of the EU to a Canadian company who’s servers are based in the US (massive breach of GDPR).
Was a long-standing contributor to the Insult Thread over in Thunderdome foru..there was about 10 of us slugging it out every day for years..sad really but it was great fun. Degsy
I used to have a great time on Boards as a young adult moving through the various edu forums and C&H.
I got some good advice there once 14 years ago.
The moderation here has got a bit ‘Marmsy’, in the last few months.
It would be interesting to see how much of the moderating team has jumped over from boards.
My jimmies are rustled at the very thought.
Some posters seemed to be full time on boards. One user called ” end of the road” was quite the contrarian to put it mildly.
