The thing is.. her hair will grow back. And she’s not even cutting it short, so it’ll be unnoticeable. She’s basically sacrificing fuck all. Must be slow news day/
The comments…she’s cutting her hair in solidarity because it’s one way women in Iran have been protesting. It might not seem it to a western audience but it’s pretty subversive, especially now the government is trying to police what Iranian (and other) women even outside Iran do with their hair to try and prove their point back home. The whole reason Iran is blowing up right now is because it’s stupid and awful to take someone’s life away for something as frivolous as showing hair
Like most thinking people I hope that the protests result in real change. What does annoy me is giving this particular woman any publicity after what she said about this country. The country that bailed her out to the tune of millions to rectify her own stupid mistake.
How stunning AND brave! Sending my prayers that your hair grows back Nazanin! You’d have thought after years in an Iranian prison you wouldn’t want to poke the bear again so soon…
