Casual question. Do mentioned cities are really in some sort of partnership with Sosnowiec and do they have a similar signs? Also what benefits them if geographically they are scattered all over Europe?

Yeah but not with Sosnowiec.
It’s typical for cities to have “sister cities” or partner cities throughout the world. Often there are special cultural/student exchanges between them, they work on projects together, and finance joint initiatives
Usually they are
Most likely some drunk dude spinned the globe and said: hey guys what if…
Yes, and it’s a very common occurrence and a long lasting tradition in Europe for cities to have sister cities(or other administrative areas, e.g. Les Mureaux is a municipality(or commune in French) and Idar-Oberstein is a small town)in differ countries. They really do have a stronger relationship than other cities, it’s not a partnership in name only. They have student exchanges, receive funding for some international public art projects, they share knowledge with each other and it’s generally a way to show that we are not so different after all and have common roots. It’s also supported by the EU
So the one partnership I’m really familiar with is Krakow, PL – Nuremberg, DE. There were strong cultural exchanges with creating Nuremberg House, cultural center in Krakow and vice-versa – Krakhausen in Nuremberg. And they provided us with their old trams for years (free!!), which really helped with our infrastructure before Krakow was able to buy new trams by itself. For years both cities were involved to keep Ryanair connection between our cities. Also ZOOs worked together for some animal exchanges.
We have a similar sign in Suceava,Romania and one of the cities in the sign is Sosnowiec,Poland but i dont know what the reason behind it is?
I haven’t seen any signs for all 6 sister cities from all around Europe city office claims they’re in special relations with.
I saw some in the UK
I was a couple times in Dergaczy (UA) in early 90s and there wasn’t any sign like this. Now Russian orcs were ruined the town, so there is a way to check and reinforce those friendship knots indeed.
