Spain approves law banning praise of former dictator Francisco Franco.

  1. Of course it’s human rights to not be allowed free speech.
“How right must he have been if they are so afraid of him 50 years after his desth. Pygmees.” – a rightist would say

  2. Slightly oversimplified title. Basically the law prohibits institutions heralding Francisco Franco as well as his ideology, and supports organisations fighting for the rights of victims of Franco’s dictatorship.

It’s insane that there is nowadays a legally allowed Francisco Franco foundation in Spain, roughly equivalent to an Adolf Hitler foundation in modern Germany or Benito Mussolini foundation in modern Italy. Francoism, just as any other fascism, is deeply anti-democratic.

However, your crazy tio Manolo can still legally say, tweet or whatsapp that Franco would have solved inflation / EU / energy / immigrants / feminism / environment or whatever else happened in the last 50 years…
