can anyone help identify what special type of hell I’ve woken up in?

  1. Raft spider, usually found in damp habitats (I.e. bogs).

If you’re seeing one in your house, you should probably have your insulation fixed! 😀

  2. Just did a quick Google of raft spider and found out there is a larger variant called the great raft spíder, which looks more like the spider in the photo.
However Wikipedia claims great raft spiders aren’t found here.

  3. “She jabs him with her stinger and they
go as limp as a boned fish. Then she has
her way with them. That’s how she likes
    to feed – fresh blood…”

  4. Raft spider! They’re actually really cool they get their names from the fact that they kinda float across water (that’s why they look so thick, they use their body’s as a raft!) they’re totally harmless to humans, I’m not even sure if they CAN bite us! But they’re great for the ecosystem so please don’t kill them

As long as you’re not an insect you don’t need to worry 🙂

  5. Raft spider i believe, can get pretty big, usually found near bogs as others have said although I have seen posts of people finding them in other areas. Be careful if handling as they can give a very ouchie bite.
