It is a reserve coal stockpile. It was built around 1995, and had 850000t of coal, about 10 month supply for Helsink when coal usage was at peaki. Now coal power plants are phasing out, so the reserve is being emptied. Also there is a new bio power plant in area, so they needed to move some of the coal.
Under the coal pile, there is 60000 m^3 oil storage built in underground cave.
Is this Vuosaari at the end of the metro line or is there another one? I used to live in Rastila
