Map of the cantons I visited; as my grandfather said, you should know your own country before going anywhere else

  1. There’s nothing wrong in seeing the world first, while we still can. I took the opportunity while I was still living at my parent’s but working already, at that blessed time when I had quite some money to spare. I’m glad I went everywhere I wanted back then, because now I just couldn’t afford the trips.

  2. Ticino’s Alto Malcantone is something else. Great for hiking, and very close to the urban areas.

  3. You’ve never been to Schwyz? You should go to Goldau to see the local wildlife zoo Tierpark. So worth it. If you have kids, even more so. Free roaming deers that you can hand feed. Or if you want a bit more action park, there’s the water park Alpamare in Pfäffikon SZ. I haven’t been there for a while, but I have fond memories.

  4. Why on earth havent you been to the Tessin? And the Appenzellerland? Both a very Popoular for Tourist and are very Beautiful.

  5. Sorry, OP, very much disagree with your grandfather. You should definitely get to know other parts of the world as early and as much as possible (preferably not just through an all-inclusive beach holiday where one hardly leaves the hotel).

Not only does it widen your understanding of other cultures, but it also teaches you a lot about your own countries. The good and the bad. It was only after having spent some time abroad did I realise how unique and special Switzerland is.

  6. in a rock song from a country im from it says – to love your country you need to visit other countries too.

  7. There are some Cantons I don’t know where to place in a map if not “in the middle”.. Jura and Ticino deserve a trip (Ticino in summer/autumn; Jura in winter/spring). Enjoy!

  8. The older you get, the less mobile you are (age, kids, responsibilities, etc.). I think the opposite is true. Explore the remote difficult to reach destinations while you’re young and save the stuff around you for when you’re old.

  9. No hate, buy why visit Uri while everyone else uses Uri to travel to Ticino.
    😀
Maybe i think Uri is a bit boring cause i grew up there.
