Post-Brexit checks reduce Eurostar’s London terminal capacity by a third

  1. This is OK as most Brits won’t be able to afford to travel abroad in the next few years due to their deteriorating currency and enormous energy bills.

  2. Eurostar knew about the changes and has plenty of space (if it reduces shopping) to make space for additional passport checking space. It has upgraded the passport check zone already but the passenger flow rate is still to low to meet their train schedule. Therefore, expand the passport check zone again!

I’m no fan of Brexit but this issue can be resolved by Eurostar. If the issue was that Eurostar needed additional ticket check booths to make sure all passengers had paid, Eurostar would have expanded capacity ages ago.

  3. Yeah it’s pretty chaotic in the terminal now but the fingerprinting coming in next year is going to lead to pure chaos. You’ll probably end up having to go hours in advance but there is not enough room after passport control to house that many passengers. I worry for Eurostar’s future as it’s a great service and this is no fault of their own.
