  1. It’s not an insult in Greece. It never was and we use it a lot. He probably confused us with another country or he read it on a wrong meme?

  2. Thumbs up 👍 is not an insult. We use it the same way as every other western country. The only insults are the middle finger 🖕 and opening your palm in front of someone’s face 🖐️. In Greece it’s called μούντζα and it’s used as a way to ridicule someone’s intelligence. If you want to show the number 5 with your hand, then don’t point with your palm but with the back of your hand.
