Such a miserable damn story, about how things can go so catastrophically wrong no matter what your circs are. Losing your footing can be easy, unfortunately. Can’t help feeling bad for this man, though I think the sentence is just.

Where’s the rest of it and does this set a precedent for the next person caught with 600k worth of weed , being in a position of power he should have got substantially more time.
An ex-Superintendent Garda in a prison for 6 years ….
Unless he is given special protection in there, this is going to be ugly for him.

The classic “His lawyers said he was also a functioning alcoholic and this had clouded his judgment and brought him to this “sorry pass”.
