Common complaint in trees… There’s even a theory that allergies are in the rise [because cities keep planting male, pollon producing trees to avoid fruit.](https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/seasonal-allergies-blame-male-trees) Though I’m not sure if the so called botanical sexism is as prevalent here in Belgium.
Let’s just start planting inheemse trees again please.
Echoing what others have already said: replace them with indigenous tree species. Foreign plant species being introduced here upset the balance of fauna and flora.
This actually seems an acceptable reason to cut the trees.
Is this the same type of tree that terrorised the sint donatuspark in leuven for so many years?
It’s not like you should need a reason to do so, but this is a great reason to do so. Kill the Ents before they kill us!
Alright, next ban cars. They smell awful too.
I’ll take the smell of a ginkgo biloba tree over that of the thousands of cars in my city any time.
Lets hope they will replace those trees rather soon than later.
I had to take the bus to university at a bus stop in Laken where they also planted these trees. The smell is horrible. It smelled like someone just puked there.
I just don’t understand who decides which trees are going to be planted, did no one do any research before planting? Everyone with some botanical knowledge and google could have known this before planting.

*Eyeroll*
